karstenhatter: Bogus entry in /etc/mtab?
abrotmanCaelum: tried other browser ?
s
hatterkarsten: if the machine hasn't been rebooted ?
is mtab is created from fstab ?
Daveman:D
hatternevermind, reading about mtab now, i had forgotten its purpose
pinxGuerin: ok - nothing has apparently changed :(
Guerinhatter: it's created from /proc/mounts or something
Caelumabrotman: actually I was using firefox from experimental, that was probably the problem...will try the regular unstable iceweasel
Guerinpinx: nothign should appear different except you should utf-8 ;)
karstenhatter: compare /etc/mtab to /proc/mounts
abrotmanCaelum: eh .. on etch ?
karstenhatter: /etc/mtab is created and updated as filesystems are mounted/umounted, and is used by many utilities, but /proc/mounts is the dispositive source of information on what's actually mounted.
hatteranyone think of any problems leaving external maxtor nas mounted permanently with smbfs for daily backups ?
pinxGuerin: nope can't type that up-arrow yet
abrotmanCaelum: yeah .. i'd try against iceweasel or epiphany or something
hatterkarsten: thanks
Guerinpinx: in rxvt-unicode-ml?
hatterkarsten: must be a typo in a mount then
pinxGuerin: I'm just trying key combinations in gaim - no change
Guerinpinx: the arrows are a rxvt-unicode-ml thing
karstenhatter: /etc/fstab is a list of known partitions you *can* mount, /etc/mtab is a list of partitions which *are* mounted (or should be).
Guerinpinx: for other special characters ask dpkg about extended chars
fridimAre you ok with : rsync -a --exclude='- /home/*/no-backup/' /home /mnt/backup ?
StyXmanhi all. what do I need to put into the kernel to make UUIDs to work? I tried putting EFI support, but it doesn't work.
fridim(since it's a backup, I prefer to be sure)
Guerinfridim: you might add --progress ;)
fridim: but yes, that will work
fridimguerin, it's in crontab, I don't care
Guerinah, cool
actionpinx googles rxvt-unicode-ml
pinxgoogles rxvt-unicode-ml
abrotmanStyXman: tried asking ##kernel ?
Guerinfridim: why `- ' in front of /home?
StyXmanabrotman: I just though of that, yes
Daveman:)
StyXman##linux, actually
fridimGuerin, it's in the man?
Guerinoh
heh
