ki11bi11Guerin, anyway , what about world enableing
GuerinKi11Bi11: i can't even parse that last bit about it being virtual
claudio`abrotman: rox a lot, i didn't know it. THX
holycowjelly-home, yep :/
jelly-homeholycow: anyway there's gpart, but you can probably guesswork it by yourself
fsmunozThe release cycle is important for the desktop, not especially for servers.
ki11bi11Guerin, a typical computer hase to be manufactured sold etc, but not a virtual one?
roxclaudio`: does it?
GuerinKi11Bi11: so you think we're heading back to a world of mainframes in the basement, and thin clients?
Azarholycow: thanks to ubuntu then that Debian users can breathe..
claudio`abrotman: but is it available from the Debian mirrors?
rox :-)
jelly-homeholycow: the beginning of the first one is trivial to figure out ;-) and you can check the second one roughly by remembering its size
fsmunozI.e. new installations are still made with RH 2.1 AS, and RHEL3 is still considered current... same for Solaris 8/9 for example. Now, for desktop... things do move quicker...
holycowAzar, well people here were saying a while back they hate ubuntu or whatever, i think its the greatest thing ever. separate project takes the heat of bringing on noobies we get patches
abrotmanclaudio`: which version of debian ?
ki11bi11Guerin, quad core mega beasts with laptop pod farms
claudio`latest release
ki11bi11laptop clusters
holycowjelly-home, can i pay ya help me do the calculations?
heh
abrotmanclaudio`: dpkg -l libc6 | tail -1
ki11bi11one real machine can run several virts
claudio`abrotman: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22sa GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone
GuerinKi11Bi11: so what you're saying is that the `personal computer' will be no more?
yeah, right
jelly-homeholycow: you can send chocolate! :-)
abrotmanclaudio`: maybe backports.org .. read the instructions there
colshamwhat actually happens when GRUB is installed? Is the boot record written to the MBR then?
holycowjelly-home, deal!
Azarthere are so many distros out there... so to satisfy everyone: if Debian wants to do things right, without pressure from no one so be it. There are users like me who want to have what Debian has to offer. Those who do not agree are free to move to another distro.
ki11bi11Guerin, no but there is going to a lot more machines around appliances doing things
GuerinKi11Bi11: wtf?
preddercolsham, with the debian package for it - yes it is
Guerindoes Ki11Bi11 make sense to anyone?
twobitspritewhat is the prefered way to install fonts in debian?
rahultwobitsprite: with dpkg
jelly-homeholycow: anyway, if they were both ext2/ext3, gpart should do a fine job
sceadugengaand apt
AzarGuerin: psssttt thats how ms have indoctrinated people to think about PC: an universal home appliance
