NY Lost Funds

holycow:) even
Azarjelly-home: I hope the next Debian administration could use some acceptable way of raising funds and distribute them so no developer would be overlooked.... peace to come to Debian community
jelly-homeAzar: I see... but going down to each DD, or each maintainer might be a hard logistical problem
actionbokey points at aj. :)
bokeypoints at aj. :)
Guerini hope for a pony
twobitspriteKi11Bi11: yeah... I don't know if you've ever worked for a large company or anything... but the shear amount of time/effort/money spend _just_ complying with licenses is astounding
jelly-home!pony Guerin
actiondpkg gives Guerin a pony
dpkggives Guerin a pony
Guerinhuzzah!
Azarjelly-home: not as a form of "income" but as a "thank you" gesture from the people contributing to Debian
actionGuerin makes ponyburgers
Guerinmakes ponyburgers
twobitspriteGuerin: ohh, I want one!
ki11bi11twobitsprite, yes even if they can figure it out...hehe
holycownot only a logistical problem but there is a thought in the debian circles regarding money ...
... when you introduce money into a community process its no longer a community process
jelly-homeAzar: the product is thank you enough ;-)
Azarthis was a big problem three , four years ago: I wanted to contribute and Debian was not ready or organized to handle this issue
holycowi think what the debian community might want to do that is easier to deal with is setup separate organizations for supporting debian officially in various ways
twobitspriteKi11Bi11: precisely... my team (unix admins) just spent the last week on the phone with CA trying to figure out how licensing works on a 16-way IBM server virtualized with 4 processors per guest... whew...
holycowwe would love to pay for debian support for server and desktop
ki11bi11i hopoe they work on ease of use issues and driver issues.
holycowbut keep the project and the corporation separate
jelly-homeAzar: well, you have a set goal now -- to help the release come faster, there's dunc-tank.
Azarno, nooooo personally I feel that I have to give to Debian community something back, something more than a "thank you"
amphiKi11Bi11: what ease of use issues?
Azarjelly-home: not to "speed up" the release, but to thank for everything was done so far. Woody inclusive
abrotmanjelly-home: fix bugs ?
jelly-homeAzar: HP donates servers.
abrotmanjelly-home: kill shellbot!
ki11bi11amphi, one thing they could do easy is expand tasksel to make a virtual debain app anything you want
Azarjelly-home: yeah I know but some money won't hurt to put a smile on the developers faces...
maybe on Christmas time.. or something like that
jelly-homeAzar: It'd put a smile on my face if etch was released within a month
Azarjelly-home: are you a developer?
jelly-homeAzar: nope
Azarjelly-home: hehe stfu then
jelly-homeAzar: are you implying that only DDs are part of the "community"?
amphiKi11Bi11: huh?
ki11bi11amphi, just run a script and you have alamp server or a dns server or special desktop development.. good to configure debian virts
Azarno, wait, don't contribute then...
