stewsceadugenga: what type of connection is it?
sceadugengayeah, i've changed the MTU to test it
ADSL1
bhundvensceadugenga: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=8megabits+in+kilobytes&btnG=Google+Search
larslabrotman: Can't find anything for libc6-dev or libpthread-dev.
stewsceadugenga: ask your isp to check your sync rate and your margins
sceadugengai've checked sync rates
larslabrotman: The weird thing is that dpkg -S /usr/include/pthread.h says 'diversion by libpthread-dev to: /usr/include/pthread.h.glibc', but pthread.h is not a link, it's a regular file.
karstensceadugenga: Are you sure that's kbps and not Kbps?
sceadugengaim 1km away from the exchange
enoufsceadugenga: try a diff server, un-java-applet related
abrotmanlarsl: that means it's a dpkg diversion ... not a filesystem one
sceadugengakarsten, 8000kbps
enouf, i've tried many different speed tests
x_linkhttp://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/6766/
Could somebody help me with this?
stewsceadugenga: when you test are you sure that the test is the only thing using bandwidth?
sussudiono
karstensceadugenga: OK. It's just that a lot of d/l tools measure _Bytes_ where bandwidth is specified in _bits_
larslabrotman: What's a dpkg diversion?
sussudiotry bloody #ubuntu
karstenx_link: Context?
enoufsceadugenga: like grc.com/security .. d/l one of the mp3 file or something // I get anywhere form Dialup speed (ugh) to 1200KB/sec depending upoon the server
x_linkI did apt-get update, and I got that.
sceadugengayes, i only have 1 computer on the connection when im testing speed
abrotmanlarsl: dpkg-divert .. it's a command
stewx_link: does "apt-get update" give you an error?
x_link: and what command gave you that error?
karstenx_link: Repeat your command with "LANG=C apt-get update" for english output.
enoufsceadugenga: don't use "speedtest sites" .. go d/l XPoop SP2 (245MB) .. start it anyways
actionbhundven starts to get memories of working in an isp callcenter and runs away

karstenx_link: My swedish is a tad rusty.
sceadugengaenouf, ?
x_linkOhh sorry.
I forgot to do that...
larslAha, uninstalling libpthread-dev fixed the compile error.
adrakoahi
enoufsceadugenga: I ALWAYS get awesome speed from the security now AOL servers at gibson (grc.com) though I havcen't tested in over a year :-P
sceadugengaim not only using speed test sites, im trying torrents, multiple threaded http downloads, etc etc
