cluster-awayben__: First, in a shell window, try it as root: `sudo mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom`
ZerberusThralas: please see the iptables documentation - if you do not specify tcp sequence types the rules match any
ben__cluster-away, it worked!!!, but I SWEAR 5 mins ago when I tried it I was also logged in as a root. in fact I can still see it in bash history
cluster-awayHmm
ThralasGood idea, Ill read the full manpage instead of assuming the usage
cluster-awaySometime automounter do funny stuff without you knowing it
/do/does/
You can always check /var/log/messages to see about mounts, sudo's, etc.
_benjo-ok will look into it
ben__cluster-away, bingo! /var/log/messages seems pretty telling of what's going on...only if I could decipher it...maybe you can
metalikwell .. it's past midnight .. is it out? :D
ThralasIt's not ;)
metalikmaybe tomorrow?
:)
ThralasStill 51 minutes of today for me ;)
metaliki'm going to sleep .. well .. my time is gmt+2 h
cluster-awayben__: Use the pastebin here:
http://www.rafb.net/paste/
And send a link
zafno bittorrent?
ben__cluster-way, net trick, here's the link: http://rafb.net/p/5SC9xZ24.html
ThralasAlright, so if I get a packet with STATE new, would that be a SYN packet for TCP?
state NEW*
cluster-awayben__: This worries me: end_request: I/O error, dev hda, sector 116
ThralasOr effectively any packet for UDP, since it requires no handshake?
cluster-awayOn both
sector is 116
Double-check your media, mount as root, and call me in the morning :)
ZerberusThralas: iptables knows states for UDP as well
ben__cluster-away, I really don't know what that means......ok no prob..thanks for your help...didn't know were' on different time zone...you gonna be here tomorrow I'm guessing?
ThralasI just noticed Zerberus, it just uses some timeout, right?
cluster-awayNo, it's just a saying... I'll in and out...
ZerberusThralas: http://www.kalamazoolinux.org/presentations/20010417/conntrack.html
ben__alright, thanks
cluster-awayBasically, instead of wondering what happened a while back, you have it working now, and lets worry about new problems
ThralasHehe Zerberus was just reading that one ;)
ben__cluster-away, I agree...as long as it keeps working I won't think about it again..
ThralasSo eh, one more. NEW is either inbound or outbound, regardless of the protocol, just 'the first' packet in any direction? (unless you explicitly specify it with dport, sport ofcourse)
Or -s or -d.
Ah I get it with the example on that page
