LalufuThose are geared towards a single server.
DJTreyahh, ok
thanks
namedrisklancelan well i already have the 4.x running with the default so better i grab the source and compile it ? how to handdle the mysql.sock in this situation ?
cemcwatch out* i mean :)
namedriskLalufu *
misspelled the person sorry
LalufuEvery running instance has to have it's own datadir/socket/network port
ZombieHey! Trey!
DJTreyhey Zombie
Evolutionnamedrisk: no. you don't want to do that.
namedriskLalufu so it will be alright if i put that in a different place it did handle find from a php code for example
Evolutionnamedrisk: mysql will not play nice running mysql4 and mysql5 on the same box.
ZombieHow've you been? I'm in CIT 352.
I'm pwning.
Evolutionnamedrisk: why not run mysql5 only?
DJTreyim good
namedriskEvolution ah :( because one of the 2 mysqls will be exclusive to a game server
and i am afraid that using just one i might hit lots of problems with connections
Lalufuah, I missed that you want to run two versions. That is more difficult than running multiple instances of the same version.
(for one, it requires you to compile one version yourself)
Evolutionnamedrisk: because of the similarity of the processes, similar file usages etc. you'll run into many conflicts attempting to run multiple versions
namedriskthat was what i was thinking of but i am kinda afraid of the compatibillity of the apache scripts since there will be 2 socks
Evolutionright.
namedrisk: better to run 1 db server, with 2 databases.
namedrisk:( blah, that is not the problem, the first mysql already has a lot of usage, that is why i wish to have a second one installed instead of using the same one...
they are meant for different pourpose anyway
Evolutionah.
namedriskand i belive that the machine can handle it fine watch for the usage of it, and this 2 mysql will run only trhu the private network
jsharperif the box can handle the combined load, i don't see much advantage to splitting it into two separate servers?
jakonMysql is designed to work under high load - is see no need to run two copies.
jsharperit's not like one mysql process maxes out at 40% of the system's capability or something
cannonballIt's weird, but it seems like when I updated our DHCP server from RH 9.0 to CentOS 4.4, now there is a 10 second pause or so before it hands out IP's.
It does it both for PXE as well as regular DHCP. Anybody ever see that before?
namedriskEvolution would you know by any chance the command from yum to install mysql5 instead of 4 ?
daemonicpenguinis there such a command?
namedriskjsharper the problem is that i dont have this 2 server to spare with ?
daemonicpenguin well there is yum install mysql-server
but that gets version 4
cluster-awaydo 'yum search mysql-server'
