| Tini_cpn | Hi guys~ :p |
| teknoprep | anyone have a how-to on installing vmware-server on centos 5 ? |
| Evolution | teknoprep: vmware hasn't said 'yes' to vmware-server on centos5 yet, but so long as you're not using the xen kernel, it works just like centos4 or fedora core. |
| teknoprep | having problems installing vmware-server on centos5 tho ran the rpm but nothing is running just keeps me running the config over and over again |
| docta_v | anyone with amanda backup experience here? |
| overseer | centos-4 + flash9 + firefox 1.5.0.9 == no audio -- no google help -- any suggestions? |
| Mathman | docta_v: yep overseer: reboot? |
| docta_v | Mathman: hey there.. so any insight you could offer me on this problem would be appreciated i have two similar systems connected to identical tape drives one is working fine and i'm trying to setup the other one on both systems /dev/sg0 is linked to /dev/changer and /dev/nst0 is linked to /dev/tape on the non-working system i was able to run amlabel to label all the tapes successfully and i can run mtx unload, mtx load, etc. but ammt -t /dev/nst0 status returns input/output error so /dev/nst0 isn't working for some reason |
| Mathman | hmm, isn't that n junk no rewind? st0 should be /dev/tape and nst0 would be nrtape or some nonsense one sec though, let me make sure... |
| docta_v | yea you're right no-rewind tape |
| Evolution | overseer: is anything else using audio? vmware, xmms, etc? |
| Mathman | yeah, tape should point to st0, and nrtape should point to nst0 |
| docta_v | same error with ammt using st0 |
| Mathman | can you do tar or anything with st0? is it just amanda giving you errors? permissions maybe? |
| docta_v | even when i run as root i get the error permissions look ok though identical to the other system have not tried to directly write to the device |
| Evolution | docta_v: selinux? |
| Mathman | what's dmesg spitting out? |
| docta_v | hmm not sure if i'm using selinux st0: Failed to read 64512 byte block with 32768 byte transfer. |
| Mathman | maybe you have a bad tape? dd or tar or anything like that work? or maybe a bad tape drive? try swapping tape drives |
| docta_v | it should still return status right? |
| Mathman | dunno |
