| Evolution | turnpike420: local kernel panic in audit subsystem, and a key serial number collision issue. turnpike420: yep. buggy clock. boot the host with clock=pit or clock=pmtmr and then inside the vm guest, use vmware-toolbox to make the guest time match the host time. usually it's caused by bad apci/apic. it's pretty well doco'd on vmware's forums |
| turnpike420 | ya, host time is fine... was just reading a doc that said if 1 cpu,. do: nosmp noapic nolapic |
| donavan | and fixed in VMware's payware products.... |
| turnpike420 | ya... this is home... we have Vi3 at work... which is better, clock=pit or clock=pmtmr ? http://kb.vmware.com/KanisaPlatform/Publishing/329/1420_f.SAL_Public.html I'm here, halfway down at "clock slow" area they suggest pit... but that's on a 2.4 kern |
| Evolution | I'd go with 'the first one you try which works' :-P |
| action | Evolution gets some sleep |
| Evolution | gets some sleep |
| turnpike420 | clock=pit nosmp noapic nolapic even with all that, 9 seconds behind after 30 seconds of booted time... 21 seconds after 1 min... dang... suckage |
| orc_orc | pony: do I see donavan here with you? |
| pony | orc_orc surely your eyes are glazed over from too much low quality tonic caused by markets collapsing around the world... |
| turnpike420 | dear $diety, no matter what I do... I'm losing almost 50% time... 1 minute goes by, 26 seconds lost... wow, mega suck |
| pony | dear NC lackie, whine elsewhere |
| evil_steve | hmm...the Solaris admins suddenly found out why uname -h is a bad thing to type gee, I wonder why printing just stopped on the MIS system |
| stup_guy23e | Hi! I got two physical hard disk in the server. New installation now. Using CentOS 4.4 Server CD. Now I want to do RAID, so the server can automatically backup all files from Hard Disk A to Hard Disk B. But I don't know how to do the partition, can anyone help me? |
| peerce | um, raid is NOT a substitute for backups partition drive B exactly the same as drive A, then create metadrive mirrors from sda1+sdb1, etc. oh, you're DOING the install? I forget if that can setup the raid for you or not. for sure, use custom install er, custom disk partitioning anyways |
| stup_guy23e | Yes. I choose Manual Partition But I don't know how to RAID it. Now got /dev/hda and /dev/hdb I just removed all existing partitions I created just now. Type : Free space 78167MB |
