|thecoolone19||am i the only one with a wierd problem like this ??|
|jennam||Well usually you can take it to be a filesystem issue but with that the entire filesizes differ|
|peerce||the two different disks must have different cluster sizes|
|thecoolone19||is it because the destination is a Virtual Machine Guest OS ?|
|peerce||too, the source disk's directories may have formerly had more files so have lots of empty blocks|
thecoolone19; that shouldn't matter.
|thecoolone19||so how can i free up the empty blocks ?|
|jennam||defrag I guess|
|thecoolone19||but how does rsync copy empty blocks ?|
|peerce||I dunno if ext3 ever colesces old directories|
coelesces? grr, whats that word?
coalesces, I guess.
compacts probably be better.
is there a defragger for ext2/3 ?
|thecoolone19||so there is nothing that i can do|
|jennam||i dunno..looking for one now :/|
|thecoolone19||or can i use the shrink option in VMtools ?|
i think vmware has a built in defrag tool
go to the properties of the virtual disk
|peerce||that doesn't defrag the guest file system, that defrags the host OS file that contains the virtual disk|
|thecoolone19||no there is a shrink tool that frees empty blocks too i guess|
|peerce||i always statically preallocate my virtual disks. they run faster that way|
and all my virtual dissk are on a dedicated file system on the VMware server
|thecoolone19||do you have seperate disks for each VM ?|
guys whats the command with /list to find a particular room ??
|thecoolone19||are there any windows platform channels in freenode?|
|thecoolone19||i tried /list php but it doesnt work|
Channel Users Topic * End of /LIST
|jennam||perhaps it is private|
|peerce||most channels are private to reduce spambots|
|thecoolone19||oh i see|
|peerce||er, many are.|
I think its +n that prevents outsiders from seeing who's in the channel
