thecoolone19well i want this for someone else with lack of db knowledge
peercethecoolone19; your program is the only thing that would need the db knowlege.
thecoolone19i mean even his system would need mysql installed then rite ?
peerceSELECT event FROM event_table WHERE date = now;
rado_peerce, member the other nite bout daisy chaining hubs?
peercerado_; vaguely.
thecoolone19isint there a readymade programme?
peercethecoolone19; never seen one.
thecoolone19ok
then i need to keep searching
peerceprobably a few websites that do something like that with their own event databases.
"on todays date, blah blah;
rado_peerce, lol oh you do too!...anyway...started w/an 8 port and added a 4 port
thecoolone19yeah
like yahoo
rado_I ended up using the uplink on the added hub to a reg port on the original hub
thecoolone19and even on Britannica encylopedia they have something like that as well
rado_peerce, you gave me 3 or so different ways to do it
thecoolone19guys on a different note, how can i check the size of each folder in ls ?
peerceuse du
thecoolone19yeah i did du -ch | grep total
peercedu -ks *
thecoolone19but that gives me only the total size. i need to see size of individual folder
rado_peerce, what do you call it ...the way I do it? uplink to reg port?
peerceor, just du with no arguments
rado_; um, it has no special name, you've just linked two hubs. 'uplink' ports are just regular ports with a built in crossover.
rado_peerce, kk that is a beautiful hint on this stuff...thx...letcha go
thecoolone19peerce: with du -ks how can i see the results displayed in MB or GB ?
peerceum, the -k means kilobytes, I thinkt here's another option to use MB or GB units
man du
thecoolone19got it
peerceah, -h
the -s says to only show the names you specify as args and not the details of the subdirs under them
so du -hs * would probably do what you want.
thecoolone19du -ksh *\ works perfect
peercedon't need the k, thats contradictory with h
thecoolone19ok
guys i did a rsync to copy a folder from one server to another, but on the destination server after the transfer is complete the size of that folder is larger than the source folder. what could be the reason of the difference ??
jennamfiles in that folder beforehand?
thecoolone19no
