loomis_1753 | I am trying to get Perl::GD::Graph installed. I am having problems just getting GD installed, it's not finding -ljpeg. How do I resolve this? |
linuxpoet | I have an FC2 machine, I am considering using apt and centos to upgrade it to centos 4.4, thoughts? |
hughesjr | if you are located with the machine ... downloading the CDs (or DVD) and using "linux upgradeany" would be a much better upgrade |
linuxpoet | Well of course :) I am not located at the machine I was trying to avoid going to the machine, and the subsequent long outage but if it is a risk, I would rather go to the machine (not knocking cent, but Ubuntu/Debian doesn't have a problem with remote upgrades which is why I asked) |
drbair_laptop | Debian usually tolarates upgrades better in my experience |
hughesjr | actually ... debian does have problems with upgrades too ... if you upgraded from woody to etch .. for example :P errmm or potato to etch, etc. |
drbair_laptop | usually a +1 goes ok. Not always perfect |
hughesjr | right but fc2 to centos4 is a +2.5 :P |
linuxpoet | I found that debian does fine as long as you are already running 2.6 if you are running stock 2.4, then you are hosed ;) This is my problem, I don't care if the fc2 machine breaks -- except |
hughesjr | what is your kernel on the fc2 box |
linuxpoet | When it reboots, I must be able to get back into it it is a 2.6 kernel If I can get back in, I can fix the problem |
hughesjr | does it use udev |
linuxpoet | it uses whatever the default for fc2 was |
drbair_laptop | sounds a little too risky for my liking |
linuxpoet | yeah I am thinking that I think I will just do a hands upgrade it sucks, but it is what it is |
hughesjr | linuxpoet: looking at the latest fc2 tree ... some items will be upgraded and some will not (some of the newer items in fc2 are newer than some CentOS items, others are not) |
yaeyo | Hi all I am looking for a firewall hot failover solution. I am going to atempt to do it with CS LVS. linuxpoet | erghmm anyone know when centos 5 is due? |
