rado_peerce, these are both just stand-alones...I tried from uplink and daisy chain w/patch but doesn't work...gonna try uplink w/a crossover next
peerceno.
rado_k
peerceuplink to a regular port. or regular to regular with crossover cable.
connecting two uplinks together would be a double cross :D
rado_kk ...I'm learning!!!! thx!
peercethe uplink just has Rx and Tx crossed. a crossover cable does the same thing.
if you connected two uplinks together, you'd be tying Rx to Rx and Tx to Tx, that wouldn't work very well :D
rado_doesn't work up to reg port
lemme try reg to reg w/cross
peerceare these both proper switches (netgear fs108, etc), or are they those nasty dual speed hubs?
rado_10/100
kunjanso anyone would know how to add SCSI support to a initrd (i mirrored a server, old one had sata, new one has scsi, kernel doesnt see it and panics)
rado_got it bud!!!!
peerceboot a rescue cd, mount and chroot the hd, mkinitrd
overseerkunjan: mkinitrd + what peerce said
peerce[make sure you mount /boot too]
overseermake sure you chroot after mounting /boot
rado_wow peerce!!!
kunjanmy /boot is on a seperate partition /dev/sda1 so when i chroot i lose it.. right/
?
overseerkunjan: mount /boot on /mnt/sysimage/boot
rado_peerce, no crossover....just reversed the uplink
peercemount /dev/sda2 /mnt ; mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot; chroot /mnt
or what he said...
kunjandoes centos rescue disk have chroot?
i was using knoppix
rado_sure does
linux rescue
peerceoh, geez, use the same OS as you're going to mkinitrd if you don't want nightmares
overseercentos install disk has 'linux rescue'
rado_yep
kunjanyep booting centos rescue
peercein fact, linux rescue probably does the mount for you (but might not mount /boot)
rado_but you better listen to peerc and these guys
kunjanyeah it did not
hmm hang on guys thanks!
peerceif its already chrooted it, then you'd just `mount /boot`
wait, oh yeah, you have to edit /etc/fstab too :D /dev/hda -> /dev/sda, etc etc.
unless its using metadisks, or lvm, then more obfuscation
