daMaestrohmm.. well ok
rado1daMaestro, lol I am really involved w/the sendmail thang...
Arrfab, I am sure you told me you use mailscanner w/sendmail too huh?
Arrfabrado1 : yes
daMaestrohttp://fedorasolved.org/server-solutions/postfix-mail-server/ there it is :-P stupid vmware
rado1Arrfab, I guess it is probably a must for me to get on mailscanners mail list being so new to it all
nesciusi ve just checked my new mail
man, this is awesome!
rado1nescius, what is awesome?
nesciuswell, this entire distribution! :D
..except yum, but all other rock!
rado1...and what's wrong w/yum?
alleycatnescius: what aspects do you dislike about yum ?
rado1yum is the way to fly!
...only way!
alleycat... except for the veeeeeeeeeeeery long time needed when processing the repo lists
rado1: no, it's not the only way.
it is ONE way
rado1lol...only one I would care to use tho!
alleycatrado1: "there's more then one way to do it"
rado1alleycat, you don't feel the same about it?
alleycattm perl, I guess
nesciusyum is almost so graphomaniacal interface as apt-get is
alleycatrado1: it is just a tool. there are others.
nescius: it was designed with text-only I/O in mind
there are GUIs for those needing them
rado1alleycat, I like yum tho...and around centos circles.. well, you know what I'm gettin at
actionalleycat wishing a ncurses interface over yum
alleycatwishing a ncurses interface over yum
nesciusurpmi was designed in same manner, with less efford for writing a hell lot of stuff
alleycatno offense intended, but urmpi s**s s**t
I've seen some errors that I would not believe that could exist in the 2006 era
nesciuswhen you looking for something you need to write yum search <something>, find it and then yum install <something>, right?
alleycat..but yes, it is an alternative
nescius: usually, yes
unless you know something about the name
in which case yum install
nesciusfor installing in urpmi you need just write urpmi <something> and if it isnt the exact name then it finds it for you
alleycatyum install \*<part_you_know>\*
should work
nescius: yum knows about wild cards
