MrWupbut the answer happens as soon as the number is dialled
penguinFunkMindTheGap: nope, what version of * you using?
MrWup: does it time out during the call?
it all happens pretty quickly
i.e is your original problem still existent?
MindTheGap1.4.4
penguinFunk, 1.4.4
coolbeansA higher TTL indicates fewer hops, right?
penguinFunkyes coolbeans
not necassarily tho i guess
coolbeansThanks. What does it start at? 255?
penguinFunkdepends on number of hops
time to live is measured in seconds, although every host that passes the datagram must reduce the TTL by at least one unit. In practice, the TTL field is reduced by one on every hop.
coolbeansSo a 244ttl, 35ms over 15 hops is a good connection vs a 68TTL over 15 hops averaging still 35ms?
penguinFunktheoretically yes
actionlstep is away: Away at the moment
lstepis away: Away at the moment
coolbeansAre there any OS tools that easily measure packet loss?
penguinFunkthe packet got there quicker since its TTL is still high
coolbeanspenguinFunk: Thanks.
penguinFunkping measures packetloss
coolbeansAhh. I see it now. Thanks!

[[blah]asfdhaving trouble with a sangoma installation. I get everything installed and then once it goes to configure the devices I get the message: http://pastebin.ca/491321
i have tried a few ways to stop hotplug, but have not been successful.
could anyone teach me how to disable this?

MrWuppenguinFunk, it seems to work ok in that the call appears to be answered just after the dialk
as far as i know this is the normal way that asterisk handles things
so thanks for sorting that out =]
only problem now is that since the call is deemed answered when it starts ringing the other party... for my billing purposes, even if the other party doesnt pick up, the call has still been answered
is there some way of listening to the line and detecting when the line stops ringing? (i.e. someone has picked up) ?
penguinFunkno idea
Strom_MMrWup: sort of, but it's not terribly reliable
penguinFunkand np :)
Waverly360Hey guys, what does it mean to use G.729 in pass-thru mode?
Strom_MWaverly360: it means you're passing the audio through the PBX without transcoding it
MrWupStrom_M, it might be of some help to me as i record all calls, so i dont want a folder full of wav files of ring-tone when nobody ever picked up
Waverly360Strom_M: How does that work with the licensing?
Strom_MWaverly360: you only need a license to transcode
MrWup: well....if proper call progress information is important to you, I'd recommend ISDN
