rudholmOff-Hook: Tip: -21.7 Ring: -29.75 (for about 8V T-R potential)
ManxPowerclose enough to what I get for both
Strom_Mhttp://www.asciiartfarts.com/20020805.html
rudholmthe on-hook potentials were what I expected, but I didn't realize that they both dip so much below earth when off-hook
ManxPowerBTW, I get different reports as to if POTS is 600 Ohm or 900 Ohm
rudholmFWIW: Coin Return is dead-on -130VDC and Coin Collect is dead-on +130VDC (again, WRT earth)
that surprised me, given that my loop length is like 26,000 feet
this is off a DMS-100
this is a coin line, I didn't test my other analog line, but I would assume it's basically the same, despite the different originating equipment for the coin line.
ManxPowerI guess my loop length is demarc to the SLIC96?
rudholmyeah
ManxPowerthat is only a couple of miles.
but more than you would expect since they routed my loop half away around the damn mountian
pfnhmm, what's the point of ael hints?
rudholmyou live in some rural area?
ManxPowerAccording to the phone guy my loop comes from the SLIC96 a couple of miles away, PAST my driveway to several farms down the road, then back to me
rudholm: something like that
rudholmwell, I live 5 miles from downtown Los Angeles, and my loop is > 26,000 feet.
Thanks, Pacific Telephone.
pfn5 miles ~ 25000ft....
rudholmI live across the street from an area code boundary
if COs were cell towers, I'd be in a dead spot.
ManxPowerany idea what the cap kick would be expected per 1,000 ft of loop?
rudholmno. I imagine it varies depending on cable type
yidiyuehanhi everyone
ManxPowerNod.
didn't know if there was a standard for the cable type
rudholmthere may be. I don't know any rules of thumb for regular 22 and 24 AWG wire, though.
yidiyuehanmy zap line could not hang up on some cases, like i call in and one of the extension's follow me instead of the extensions, and then it rings, before it answers i hangup then it will continue to execute the folloing follow me list. anyone knows the problem?
rudholminsulation makes a difference too, of course
ManxPowerAh, I didn't know that
Well I'm pretty sure the telco will fix a 245 - 405Hz hum at the demarc, that is a start at least
rudholmyeah
yidiyuehanBut if the line directs to zap extension instead of the follow me, then i can hang up properly
ManxPoweryidiyuehan: asterisk is not detecting when the telco hangs up the line. This could be cause by many things
yidiyuehanyes, well, there isn't a zap card channel i guess.. the probelm is that i only could not hang up under some cases.
ManxPoweryidiyuehan: this is usually only a problem with pstn calls into voicemail, but I can see how it could be a problem with follow me type of things
yidiyuehanyes, so i just reported here to check it could be a possible bug maybe.
ManxPowerrudholm: do you know anything about C-NOTCH tests and what an expect S/N would be?
I would like to state again just how much I dislike analog lines
