arsucenoumm
and asterisk get caller id in T-Com lines?
cvschleichJerJer: We're looking into replacing a 15 year old 911 system (backup center only, handles about 6 calls a year) with a Digium card, if it will pull the ANI from the telco the same way.
florzarsuceno: on ISDN it certainly does, on POTS no clue
arsucenooh, oks
pots=pstn ?
JerJeri don't think there is ANI on pots
florzarsuceno: analog line
JerJerbut there is the FSK data for calling party
so i presume one could send whatever is necessary
that is if you are in control of both sides of the loop
cvschleichThe current arrangement is 4 analog trunks into a Proctor brand system that pulls ANI from the lines, so it's there, I just don't know if it's the same as caller-id, or if the information is encoded/decoded differently...
dalbaechANI and callerid are signalled differently I believe
cvschleichThat was my suspicion, but I don't know where to go to find out for sure...
florzcvschleich: use a sound card to record the signal and have a look :-)
arsucenooooh.. oks
cvschleichThere's a thought. What do I compare it to?
arsucenoi am thinking that if in uk uses a kind of FKS caller id... maybe it is "adaptable" to Spain
dalbaechI'm sorry, I'm trying to find more information cvschleich
cvschleichI appreciate the effort!!!
florzarsuceno: IIRC the BT stuff works pretty similarly to what I have on T-Com POTS, if that helps you
dalbaechCallerID is really just bellcore signalled in the US
ANI is transmitted in digital
most people just have analog (I believe you would need a digital line to capture the caller's true ANI)
[assuming the telco actually sends it to the adapter]
cvschleichYes, but I'm specifically referring the the 911 PSAP where the calls are received.
dalbaechis it an analog line?
cvschleichYes, there are four analog lines into the PSAP.
dalbaechthen the ANI for that individual line should be sent to the 911.
cvschleichThe Proctor docs speak of TSPS (wink and no wink), and 1A-ESS. Are those standard caller id protocols?
dalbaechregaredless of what you set the callerid to... it's dependent on the telco
cvschleichI'm just looking to replace the 15 year old Proctor equipment with a digium card and asterisk, if I can get the ANI out of the lines the same way the Proctor equipment does....
dalbaechcvschleich : http://www.tech-faq.com/caller-id.shtml
cvschleichOutstanding, thanks very much! I'll dig into that.
dalbaechcvschleich : is this for a PSAP or for a client with the possibility of calling an emergency station?
most 911 carriers get both, caller id and ani
arsucenoanother question (i have a lot of!), what means BATTERY on wctdm debugs?
dalbaechas with E-911, it's callerid information that is sent, then at the analog end, it's converted
(spoofed so to speak by the telco)
cvschleichdalbaech: This is the PSAP.
