RattyI am looking at hosting two different websites off one ip, can I achieve this by setting up IP aliasing and messing around with apaches vhosts file ?
This is hosting off of a linux computer
thumbsvhsot examples
vhost examples
fajitaLook at these for examples http://wiki.apache.org/httpd/Recipes/ExampleVhosts :: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/vhosts/examples.html :: http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/vhosts/examples.html :: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/vhosts/examples.html
thumbsRatty: ^^
Rattythumbs, Roger that, thanks
thumbs, But no IP aliasing ?
thumbsIP aliasing and apache are not related.
Rattyoh okay
thumbsapache serves content
you can make apache listen on a port, or an IP
you can tell apache to serve a vhost on a particular IP
RattyI didn't know if you had to set up different local IPS to allow two or more different domain names with seperate content on them
thumbsssl vhosts
fajitaWhen using SSL, each virtual host must have either its own IP address or its own port. Or both. or for details see http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/ssl/ssl_faq.html#vhosts2 or http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/apache/2005/02/17/apacheckbk.html or see SNI or consider wildcard certificates or http://wiki.cacert.org/wiki/VhostTaskForce or see ip based vhosts
thumbsRatty: that might be worth reading.
Rattyoh ok. Awesome
shad0w1ehey is there a deny rule for all files beginning with . ?
thumbsfilesmatch
fajitafilesmatch is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/core.html#filesmatch or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/core.html#filesmatch
thumbsdeny
fajitadeny is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_access.html#deny or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_access.html#deny
shad0w1ei ask bec Im trying to get this third party app working and keep getting .htsupra not found or incorrect suCONF section
Covenershad0w1e: default conf prevents download of .ht*
shad0w1einteresting
this might be my problem
Covenershad0w1e: but, i doubt your app complains about downloading it via http, probably opening it locally
shad0w1ecan I overridde this in .htaccess?
thumbsfilesmatch context
fajitaFilesMatch may be used in the following contexts: server config, virtual host, directory, .htaccess
shad0w1ehuh
fajitaPlease state the nature of your computing emergency
Covenerthe reverse of the default thing would be like <Files ~ "^\.ht">\n Order Deny,Allow \n Allow from all \n</Files>
Rattythumbs, Sweet, that was way easier than what I thought
I thought I was going to have to make up some internal ips and all.
woh
fajitawoh is stojance
thumbsRatty: good stuff I guess.
Rattythumbs, Way to easy
