asmerkerok then thought this was the apache irc channel
Xodus999so what can I do about my modules then?
Zalasmerker this a place to ask questions, not a place to find experts :-)
Xodus999Anyone?
I'm trying to find a way to recompile the modules
Or something
megaspazMarticus: no. the key is created when creating a csr.
but it's not sent when you sign the csr
yangoXodus999: 16:47 < yango> Xodus999: what does the command "file mod_rewrite.so" says?
megaspazthere's a public key that gets generated with in the csr though
Xodus999so do specifically in terminal file mod_rewrite?
file mod_rewrite.so
mod_rewrite.so: cannot open (mod_rewrite.so)
yangowith full path, please
Xodus999> file /Edrive/server/Apache2/modules/mod_rewrite.so
/Edrive/server/Apache2/modules/mod_rewrite.so: MS-DOS executable (EXE), OS/2 or MS Windows
yangoXodus999: there you go
Xodus999wtf why is it ms dos exe?
megaspazfyi, things to remember... if you're using a distro apache package and you compile your own apache, you can't just copy over your preinstalled modules into your compiled apache's module dir. along with that, you might have issues with apxs and any modules you compile for your compiled apache will be hosed as well.
Xodus999The people that originally installed this are stupid
yangobecause it's not a proper installation
Xodus999okay
well on tuesday
yangotry with either a full clean compile or, preferably with the distro packages
Xodus999I compiled my own apache
With a distro package
but I get an error when I try to start
let me get it
actionmegaspaz suggests starting completely clean
megaspazsuggests starting completely clean
asmerkerI am having some interesting problems with authentication: it says accepting <user name> then right after says authorise: authorisation denied
megaspazuninstall all rpm packages relating to apache, uninstall your compiled apache. and then choose whether to install your distro packages or compile apache from sauce from apache.org
asmerkerif I put in a bad password it gives me the mismatch error
and that isn't a spelling error on my part it really says authorise
Xodus999megaspaz, there an easy way to uninstall them?
I haven't ever uninstalled anything from linux before
megaspazwell, if you compiled from source and you didn't go willy nilly with the --bindir, --mandir, --libdir, etc, you just rm -rf the /usr/local/apache2 directory
eat_statichow for do i restart apache?
from commandline?
Xodus999megaspaz, I don't know how the /apache2 was installed
I did /apache
