tbussI'm having a problem running a cgi program. I have tried ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ with AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl. I have also tried to give everyone permission on the file with chmod a+x chat.cgi. I'm really unsure what to do next
DavidHKMrPowerswhat means by the location match regex?
adaptr ^
adaptrDavidHKMrPowers I have no clue, but please just do as instructed, and see if that improves matters
DavidHKMrPowersadaptr ok :)
adaptryou aska simple question, you got a simple answer - don't expect to go from there to understanding apache configuration without study
tbussI guess I need to know where a good place to put cgi files would be, I have tried several dirs with no luck
jMCgcgi
fajitacgi is http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/howto/cgi.html
Covenertbuss: Choose your own outside the document root and use ScriptAlias
tbussCovener: I tried ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ with no luck
thumbstbuss: what does the error log say, exactly?
tbussCovener: on the browser "forbidden" checked perms and tried to change file perms chmod a+x and also 777 and 755, error log states "Premature end of script headers: chat.cgi"
thumbscgi headers
cgi header
what the frack
tbuss: your cgi script needs to output the proper content type.
blahzhhellp, my problem is that apache is eating much cpu, its using php and mysql with my php pages and i want to know exactly what thing is eating my cpu via apache..
thumbsserver-status
fajitaserver-status is enabled by mod_status. See http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_status.html or http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_status.html
thumbsblahzh: ^^
tbussthumbs: also Can't locate config.pm in @INC (@INC contains: "list of dirs"
thumbstbuss: see #perl for that
manu_hackhi all, if I can go to my index.html by entering localhost in the browser but not the ip address, does that mean that is not the problem of apache?
thumbsrouter
fajitaIn order to access your web site behind a router, you must forward the port apache is listening on to your internal IP. Then you can access your site by pointing your browser to http://<your external IP here>:<port>. If your ISP blocks port 80, see 'port 80 redirection'. Instructions on how to forward a port using most common routers can be found at http://portforward.com
thumbsmanu_hack: ^^
manu_hackhi thumbs
tbussthumbs: okay, I have to ask, I'm trying to load a simple chat room, do you have any suggestions,
manu_hackfajita, i did
fajitamanu_hack: what?
thumbsno, I don't do chat rooms.
manu_hack: give us your website address.
manu_hackkcma.redirectme.net
thumbstbuss: perhaps you should ask the maintainer of the given project for help
servertokens kcma.redirectme.net
fajitaApache/2.2.3 (Debian) mod_python/3.2.10 Python/2.4.4 PHP/4.4.4-9
