haysjpeg: I've tried both. someone in efnet#apache said !on was right.
jeremybhow do i mod the wiki at http://rewrite.drbacchus.com/rewritewiki ?
jpegcome back when drbachhus is around and ask him to do it.
jeremybspecifically an immutable page
jpeg: drbachhus == drb?
jpegI'd believe his information, since he literally wrote the book on mod_rewrite.
yes, drb == drbacchus
jeremybjpeg: it's not bad info just an insignificant typo
jpegaka Rich Bowen, writes a column for oreilly.net, apache foundation member.
jeremybohh, that name sounds familiar
jpegand generally tireless contributer to freenode #apache.
jeremybjpeg: s/endure/ensure/ in the first paragraph under 'SSL to the wrong hostname' at the SSL page
who's rob? (he edited that page too)
jpegdunno.
beobabasic auth, missing module?: "configuration error: couldn't check access. No groups file?: /"
mods-enabled# ls
alias.load authn_file.load authz_host.load autoindex.load cgid.load headers.load rewrite.load ssl.load
auth_basic.load authz_groupfile.load authz_owner.load cgid.conf dir.load mime.load ssl.conf
i tried adding groupfile and owner and neither of those appeared to fix anything
kev009does a combined log include error log information?
thumbskev009: no
kev009: that's what the error log is for
the 'combined' log refers to the access log
beoba: what's your exact error?
beoba[Mon Mar 26 00:22:49 2007] [crit] [client 168.122.242.44] configuration error: couldn't check access. No groups file?: /
from what im finding, it is the default "SOMETHINGS BROKEN BUT IM NOT TELLING YOU WHAT IT IS" error message when auth fails
thumbsummm never seen that
I usually do basic auth
beobayeah, that's what i've got
2.0 was pam with basic as fallback if pam fails
i removed pam just now, since the stuff you linked had amazingly obscure header files and i didnt care enough to deal with it
(this is just me tinkering around on a hobby box)
thumbsunfortunately, I can only help with basic auth
beobawell, we're in luck then:
<Directory />
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /home/www-data/keys/passwd
AuthName "Users Only"
fajita<Directory /> is a filesystem directory, not a URL path. If you put options in this block, don't be surprised when whatever you're trying to do doesn't work.
beobaRequire valid-user
