rubyrobotDrBaccus: Will such a setup make sense? It seems everyone would prefer a setup with a small frontend server like nginx and Apache as a backend to handle dynamic content. Only in my case 90% of requests are dynamic. The 10% of requests are for very large static file about 200MB in size. I don't want to waste Apache's child processes to handle these files.
If I put nginx in front, it seems to create a lot of overhead because most every request needs to be proxied through to Apache.

evtlogI'm experiencing random
'hangs' on apache/win
httpd would just sit there for 10-20 seconds at 90% cpu
rubyrobotcy_: httperf or ab? The latter I find easier to use.
evtlogand it doesn't seem to be from php since the whole php script benchmarks from the first to the last time to be execced at 0.01 sec
DrBacchusrubyrobot: Well, I've never heard of nqinx, but I suppose there are a variety of architectures that make sense in different settings.
evtlogHow could I troubleshoot this?
DrBacchusrubyrobot: We use Apache as a front for mongrel, for example, and it makes a lot of sense in that environment.
cy_`thanks rubyrobot
rubyrobotDrBacchus: I use Apache as LB for Mongrel as well. According to some people nginx would be faster in this sort of setup though.
DrBacchusrubyrobot: ok. Well, without comparing them, I'm unable to express an opinion one way or the other.
rubyrobotDrBacchus: Sure. Do you happen to know where to get more information about Apache's ressource usage when proxying requests?
FreezeShey guys

FreezeScan anyone tell me how cand I get the actual location when I'm using LocationMatch ?
should be a variable somewhere, but I can't find it in the documentation
evtlogon every second request or so, Apache goes deep scanning my site folders, doing.. whatever.. How can I troubleshoot why is this going on? When it happens it hangs apache for around 10 seconds sitting there crawling the site folders.
